DURBAN - African National Congress (ANC) will be appealing a court judgement over the logo and name uMkhonto weSizwe (MK).
Earlier in 2024, the ANC filed papers to prevent its former president, Jacob Zuma, from using the trademarks associated with the ANC’s former military wing.

But in April, the High Court in Durban dismissed the ANC’s applications with costs.
The ANC is on Thursday seeking to have the previous court decision set aside.
The party's heads of argument state that it is no coincidence that the MK Party chose to use the name, claiming it wants to appear to be linked to the former liberation movement.
The ANC said the MK Party wanted to confuse voters by using this name and logo.
But in its responding heads of argument, MK Party lawyers said the appeal was moot, especially after the 29 May polls, adding it should be heard by the Electoral Court instead.
