CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Premier Alan Winde has promised families of the George building collapse victims that they will get answers as to the cause of the implosion.
Thirty-three people died in May when an almost complete apartment block caved in with at least 62 people on site.
In his opening of the provincial parliament address on Wednesday, Winde was met with contempt from the opposition benches when he promised justice for the victims.
Several of the disaster teams who were part of the rescue and recovery mission were present in the public gallery of the legislature on Wednesday.
"We will do everything in our power to ensure that those responsible for this unspeakable tragedy face the consequences of their negligence," the Premier said.
The Premier was heckled at this point and was asked: "When?"
"We must ask that question when? The national department has been investigating and we are busy investigating," Winde replied.
