CAPE TOWN - Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said there would not be any demolition of homeless people structures on Wednesday or Thursday.
About 200 people living in public spaces in the CBD have until 31 July to take down their structures or face demolition.
The city was given the green light by the Western Cape High Court in June to evict those who did not move voluntarily by 1 August and demolish their tent cities.
The city has the responsibility to provide alternative accommodation at its shelters for those who choose to move voluntarily.
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis: "I presume it will happen in a week or so, but the timeline is set by the sheriff of the court, we just play a supportive role there. But it will happen for those who do not voluntarily accept the accommodation. But we are thrilled to hear that the huge majority of them have done so, but for those who have not, that will happen in the next few days or so."
