This resulted in flights not being able to land or depart on Sunday night, while others were diverted to other airports.
ACSA's regional general manager, Mark McLean, said the situation is improving, with runway lights and navigational aids having now returned to service and allowing for safe aircraft landings.
“There are four aircrafts that diverted to other stations, but 11 aircrafts arrived safely last night [Sunday]. Throughout the night, we still had landings all the way until 4am this morning [Monday].”
