CAPE TOWN - Two suspects have been arrested for the possession of cannabis valued at R30 million in Philadelphia, on the outskirts of Malmesbury.
According to Western Cape police, they were cuffed after they could not produce a permit or licence for the contraband on Friday.
Police Spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi said the arrests followed a tip-off about the illegal cultivation of cannabis at a farm in the area.
"The investigating team arrested the man, aged 59, and the woman, aged 49. Once charged, the suspects are expected to appear in the Atlantis Magistrates Court on charges of dealing in cannabis and the possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition on Monday."
