Police appeal for info after 1 person killed, another wounded in Langa shooting

CAPE TOWN - It's being speculated that a security escort vehicle was targeted in a fatal shooting in Langa. 

A 31-year-old man was shot dead on Thursday, while another person was wounded.

A community leader believes the gunmen may have intended to rob the security officers of their firearms and added that the area was a hotspot for extortion-related crime. 

This has not been confirmed by police. 

SAPS spokesperson, Joseph Swartbooi: "The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. Langa police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder. An appeal is hereby made to anyone who can shed light on the circumstances of this shooting incident to please call Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or by using the mobile application MySAPS anonymously."
