ANC should have joined forces with EFF, MK to form a govt - SACP's Mapaila
Solly Mapaila agreed that the electoral outcome of the 29 May election compelled the ANC to work with other parties but said there were much better options on the table.

JOHANNESBURG - South African Communist Party (SACP) general secretary Solly Mapaila said that it would have been ideal for the African National Congress (ANC) to join forces with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and MK Party to constitute government.
Mapaila said that while he's welcomed the ANC's decision to form an all-inclusive Government of National Unity, he remains skeptical about the inclusion of the Democratic Alliance (DA).
He was speaking to EWN on the sidelines of the Charlotte Mannya-Maxeke Institute's 30 years of democracy commemoration at Freedom Park in Pretoria on Wednesday.
Mapaila agreed that the electoral outcome of the 29 May election compelled the ANC to work with other parties but said there were much better options on the table.
While he recognised the ANC's significant differences with the EFF and MK Party, he firmly believes they could have found one another to form a progressive government.
"The strategic enemy of our revolution is monopoly capital, represented politically through the expression of the DA, therefore, you can't treat the DA the same as the MK Party or EFF, irrespective of the differences with these two organisations."
He said it was appalling that some in the ANC would rather rub shoulders with the DA.
"Others are saying MK Party, as an example, and the EFF are no different from the DA because they are all against the ANC. That’s the worst form of political understanding because those two forces are not capital."
He has welcomed the GNU but said his views on it remain unchanged.
