CAPE TOWN - President Cyril Ramaphosa said that it was too soon to claim victory over load shedding.
The country will this week have been without power cuts for 120 days.
Ramaphosa was in the National Assembly on Tuesday afternoon to debate the budget of the Presidency.
Delivering a review of the work done over the past year, Ramaphosa said there’d been a marked improvement in the performance of Eskom power stations since the Presidency took control of the energy crisis.
"It's too soon to claim victory. Our electricity system is still vulnerable and we cannot yet rule out possible challenges going forward."
Ramaphosa said that the power crisis had been one of the biggest impediments to growth, as well as the red tape involved in obtaining a water licence.
"Some of you might recall that it used to take up to three years for those who want to use water to get a licence. It has now been reduced to merely days and we really applaud the work that is being done in Water and Sanitation."
