CAPE TOWN - The National Health Department has dismissed allegations of contaminated water at its Dr AB Xuma Building in Pretoria.
Department spokesperson Foster Mohale has rubbished media reports suggesting it was in violation of occupational health and safety regulations due to alleged contamination of its domestic water system.
Mohale said that the department had tested the quality of drinking water at the building for the past three years.
"The water passed the standard in line with South African national standards for drinking water. For this current year, the water was tested at several points in the building on 8 July 2024 by a private laboratory, and on 12 July by the National Health Laboratory Services."
