JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Education Department has raised concern over a high number of incomplete applications for the 2025 academic year.

It said that some parents applying for their children for grades 1 and 8 for next year were not completing all five steps of the process.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the number of incomplete online applications stood at over 146,000, putting the placement of learners at risk.

The department said that incomplete applications would not be processed for placement.

"It is important for parents to check the SMSs they receive from the online admission system, which notifies them of their application status, incomplete steps and other important information regarding their application," said spokesperson Steve Mabona.
