CAPE TOWN - Eskom says it's gaining momentum on its mission to eradicate load shedding in South Africa within two years.

Eskom board chairperson Mteto Nyati said the generation recovery plan, which was initiated in March 2023 to rid South Africa of load shedding, is going better than expected.
"We set very, very high standards in terms of where we wanted management to be and they’ve consistently over the last two months exceeded our expectation of where we'd thought we would be at this time."
As the country enters its fourth month without load shedding, Nyati said last week, six power stations were operating above 70%.
"That is something that is very good. When looking ahead, you can see that we are ahead of where we thought we would be."
