DURBAN - The Durban Magistrates Court building has been evacuated following a bomb scare on Tuesday morning.
Police said an unknown caller alerted officials that there was a bomb hidden somewhere in the building.
Officers are currently searching it.
The police explosives and K9 units are searching through the building with their dogs, but no explosives have been found yet.
But outside court, officials have been camping since the morning, after being escorted out by security officers.
“The explosives and K9 units of the South African Police Service in KwaZulu-Natal are conducting a precautionary search and sweeping at the Durban Magistrates Court,” said police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda.
“This, after an unknown person called the court and announced there was a bomb, which he said will go off this morning.”
This has brought court proceedings to a standstill, with court officials hoping for a response.
