Applications for grade R or school transfers in WC for 2025 school year open on 1 August

CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) says parents who wish to apply for grade R or a school transfer for the 2025 school year can do so from 1 August.

MEC for education, David Maynier, is encouraging parents to start preparing the necessary documents in advance.

"Grade R applications should be submitted online on the WCED website, while transfer applications from grades two to seven and nine to twelve should be done in hard copy at the school which the parent wishes to apply to or their education district office."

Maynier said that parents who wished to make applications needed to visit the WCED website.

"All the information you will need to apply is available on the WCED website. Don't wait. Apply for a place for your child on time."
