TSHWANE - Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink says he's not worried about losing his job ahead of an imminent motion of no confidence against him.

The African National Congress (ANC) wants to remove him because service delivery and the metro's finances have deteriorated during his tenure.

However, the Democratic Alliance (DA)-led multiparty coalition government in Tshwane, led by Brink, has a slight majority of three seats over the ANC coalition.

The ANC is hoping some DA councillors will once again break rank and vote with them.

Brink said there was no chance of history repeating itself.

“It’s important to note with Murunwa Makwarela's [election as Tshwane mayor], ActionSA expelled the councillors who voted with the ANC coalition, and they acted completely in line with the coalition agreement.

“I have got a very good relationship with ActionSA and the Deputy Mayor – Nasiphi Moya – and she plays a key role in our new approach to getting better value from our capital projects.”
