JOHANNESBURG - Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Ekurhuleni is still dealing with water interruptions linked to a mass infrastructure project by Rand Water.
This week, the hospital has been serviced by three water tankers to mitigate the impact of the supply issues.
The Gauteng Department of Health also put contingency plans to assist with the shortages.
Although water has been restored to Germiston South where Bertha Gxowa is situated, some nurses have told Eyewitness News that operations at the hospital continue to be interrupted by the on-and-off water supply.
According to Rand Water, areas affected by the maintenance project would have little to no water supply for a period that does not exceed 72 hours.
Tankers are still stationed outside the hospital, meaning the reality ob the ground is not what Rand Water envisaged.
Rand Water's infrastructure project is set to conclude next week.
