CAPE TOWN – African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Fikile Mbalula says the programmes of the government like the Basic Education Laws Amendment (BELA) Bill and National Health Insurance (NHI) will continue despite dissent from within the Government of National Unity (GNU).
Speaking at a media briefing at the party's Western Cape headquarters in Cape Town on Saturday, Mbalula said the existence of the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the GNU doesn’t mean the programmes they oppose in Parliament will be scrapped.

He said carrying out the NHI, and the BELA Bill would continue despite the DA challenging the proposed legislation.
“Of course, given the ideological range represented in Parliament, there will be disagreement, represented in the colourful rhetoric and pretences we had yesterday [Friday].”
