CAPE TOWN - Opposition parties have taken aim at President Cyril Ramaphosa, saying his Opening of Parliament Address wasn’t very inspiring.
The two Houses of Parliament were taking part in the debate into Ramaphosa’s speech, which focused on job creation and growing the economy.
But the speech was not well received by those not in the Government of National Unity (GNU).
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema: "You indeed spoke like a battle-wounded buffalo yesterday. You spoke like a given-up soul. Nothing inspirational came from that tired speech yesterday."
MK Party parliamentary leader, John Hlophe, rejected the idea of a GNU.
"But we are not fooled, Mr President, we are not fools. It is very clear that the DA has a veto power in respect of the so-called Government of National Unity."
