JOHANNESBURG - The murder case of teacher Kirsten Kluyts has been transferred to a high court for trial.
The body of the Delta Park High School teacher was discovered at the George Lea Park in Parkmore last October.
On the day of her death, Kluyts had been participating in a race in Sandton.
Police quickly linked Varsity College student, Bafana Mahungela, to the gruesome murder after CCTV footage showed him wearing Kluyt's bloodied T-shirt on the day of the killing.
Mahungela made a brief appearance at the Alexandra Magistrates Court on Thursday, where the matter was postponed to 16 August for a pre-trial conference at the Johannesburg High Court.
Gauteng National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane: "Mahungela faces additional charges of kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances, attempted rape and defeating the ends of justice. The investigations are concluded and we are busy finalising the disclosure of the contents of the dockets and any other evidential material to the defence team so they can prepare for trial."
