JOHANNESBURG - The former president of the Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command (EFFSC), Mpho Morolane, is mobilising support for EFF member Mbuyiseni Ndlozi to be elected as the party's secretary general.
The EFF is expected to convene its National People Assembly in December to elect a new leadership and review some of its policies.
Morolane, who was the first president of the EFF Student Command, believes Ndlozi is best suited to lead the party to victory at the 2026 local government elections.
He has publicly called on the party's student wing to throw its weight behind Ndlozi for the secretary-general position.
Morolane said Ndlozi had shown a clear understanding of the EFF's policies and distinctly articulated them to the public and the party's ground forces.
"I think a character such as Mbuyiseni Ndlozi will be suitable to run for the secretary general because the young man has a PhD, he's eloquent and he has worked the ground at all levels."
Being the former president of the party's student wing, Morolane believes his opinion carries weight within the party - suggesting his endorsement of Ndlozi will likely materialise.
He plans to convene a meeting with all former leaders of the EFFSC to persuade the youth to raise Ndlozi's banner in December.
