JOHANNESBURG - The man behind the brutal murder of 22-year-old Karabo Mokoena has been sentenced to an additional 15 years behind bars for fraud.
Sandile Mantsoe was convicted for swindling several victims of over a million rand through his company, Trillion Dollar Legacy.
Mantsoe is serving a 32-year jail term for murdering Mokoena, who was his girlfriend at the time, and burning her body.
The Evander Magistrate's Court in Mpumalanga found that between April and August 2016, Mantsoe operated an investment scheme, defrauding victims of over a million rand.
Mantsoe, who led a flashy life at the Sandton Skye apartments before his arrest, faced over 120 fraud charges, together with his company, Trillion Dollar Legacy.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Dineo Sekgodi: "During the investigation, it was established that Mantsoe tricked victims into investing money, by providing fake information on investments. One hundred and nineteen victims invested money in Trillion Dollar Legacy."
The court has ruled that Mantsoe's 15-year sentence will run concurrently with his 32-year jail term.
