JOHANNESBURG - The driver behind the tragic car crash that claimed the lives of 11 pupils is likely to face a charge of culpable homicide.
The pupils died en route to school last Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane confirmed during a memorial service in Carletonville that they had all been positively matched via DNA with their families, as their bodies were burnt beyond recognition in the accident.
Chiloane says the driver remains in hospital under police guard.
"As soon as he gets released, gets discharged, I suspect it’s going to be a culpable homicide but I don’t know, I’m not an expert but most probably it will be that, considering how the accident unfolded."
