CAPE TOWN - The case against a Cape Town man charged with killing his pregnant wife, a mother of three, has been postponed to Monday for a bail application.
Roslin Martin's body was found by relatives inside her Wendy house in Heideveld late last month.
An anti-GBV organisation said that her throat was slit and her stomach was cut open, while several limbs were broken.
The Callas Foundation, an organisation dedicated to eradicating gender-based violence, is calling for Roslin Martin's killer to be denied bail.
The foundation's Caroline Peters was among several people who demonstrated at the Athlone Magistrate's Court on Monday.
"The atmosphere in the court was very tense. It was extremely emotional with her two sisters being present. He looked as if he wanted to cry in court but we believe it was all a ploy for the court," Peters said.
Peters believes the accused's release on bail could endanger the community and embolden other perpetrators of gender-based violence.
She said that Martin's family, especially her young children, were vulnerable and required the assurance that justice would be served.
