Shannen Doherty (53) of 'Beverly Hills 90210' dies after cancer battle
Doherty's publicist, Leslie Sloan, confirmed her death on Sunday.
Shannen Doherty, known for her roles in 'Charmed' and 'Beverly Hills 90210,' has died after a battle with cancer.
"Doherty lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease," read a statement by her publicist Leslie Sloan.
"The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace."
Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.
In November, Doherty confirmed that the cancer had spread to her bones.
In February 2020, Doherty revealed that her breast cancer had metastasized to stage four after undergoing surgery for a single mastectomy.
In June 2023, the actress announced on Instagram that a CT scan months prior showed the cancer had spread to her brain, for which she was receiving radiation.
"My fear is obvious," Doherty wrote in her post. "I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life. ... The turmoil….. the timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like."
In November 2023, Doherty announced that the cancer had spread to her bones.
