Three dead after head-on collision on N6 near East London

The Eastern Cape Department of Transport said the incident happened on Friday night when a truck collided head-on with a passenger vehicle. Two people were burnt beyond recognition.

CAPE TOWN - ​Two people have been burnt beyond recognition in a road crash that claimed the lives of three people on the N6 outside East London towards Stutterheim.
 
The Eastern Cape Department of Transport said the incident happened on Friday night when a truck collided head-on with a passenger vehicle. 

Both vehicles had two occupants each.
 
Both drivers perished on the scene and the cause of the accident is not yet known.
 
Department spokesperson Unathi Binqose said one survivor of the crash was in a critical condition in hospital.
 
"We couldn't even determine race or even gender of either of the two. The MEC for Transport in the Eastern Cape Mr Xolile Nqatha is extending his sincere word of condolences to the families of the deceased while wishing the one person in hospital a speedy and full recovery."
