DURBAN - Ireland coach Andy Farrell has called Saturday's second Test against the Springboks their most important match in recent memory.
Ahead of the game, Farrell has made the tough decision to drop captain Peter O'Mahony in one of four changes to the side that lost 27-20 at Loftus last week.
The inclusions of hooker Ronan Kellher, scrumhalf Conor Murray and centre Garry Ringrose in the starting XV were prompted by injuries, as the Irish squad resembled the walking wounded after a bruising first Test.
O'Mahony is the only one who's fallen out favour as he drops to the bench while Tadgh Berne moves to the flank and James Ryan starts at lock.
Caelan Doris will lead Ireland in O'Mahony's absence for the crucial encounter, which Farrell said he was optimistic about winning.
"It's our last chance to have a crack at what is the best side in the world at this moment in time. We relish that opportunity and I think whenever we put on the green shirt, we always think we have a chance."
Kick-off at Kings Park on Saturday is at 5pm.
