Gwarube to Carletonville horror crash victims' families: 'You have my full support'

JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has committed to assisting the families of 11 children who died in a horror crash in Carletonville on Wednesday.
On Friday, DBE Minister Siviwe Gwarube visited Rocklands Primary School, where 10 of the deceased were learners.
On Wednesday morning, a minibus taxi and a bakkie accident claimed the lives of 12 people, 11 of whom were primary school children.

Gwarube’s first visit to a school was under a cloud of tragedy.
Vowing to provide as much assistance as possible — the minister and stakeholders from the school announced that AVBOB Funeral Services has also committed to burying all the deceased.
“I want to also assure you that you have my full support. The team that I lead the Department of Basic Education is with you.”
Meanwhile, about 20km away at the Kokosi Community Centre - the families of the victims are providing their DNA to speed up the process of identifying the deceased.
