Gwarube expected to visit schools of learners who died in Carletonville crash

JOHANNESBURG - Minister of Basic Education Siviwe Gwarube is expected to visit the schools of 11 children who died in a crash in Carletonville, on the West Rand.
The pupils were travelling in an overloaded taxi on their way to school this week when it was hit from behind by a bakkie, killing 11 of them and their driver.

“The minister will take an opportunity to extend condolences to the school communities of Rocklands Primary as well as Laerskool Blyvooruitsig in Carletonville,” her spokesperson, Terence Khala, said.
“The minister will also take an opportunity to visit the families of injured learners recovering in hospital.”
