CT man dies after falling into canal

CAPE TOWN - A man has died in what may be considered a weather-related incident.
 
Police said that he was walking on a flooded pavement when he slipped, fell and disappeared in a canal in Blackheath on Friday.
 
Search and rescue teams were dispatched, but the police's Joseph Swaartbooi said that he was not found alive.

"The body of an unknown man was retrieved from the water. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. Mfuleni police registered an inquest for further investigation".

Unconfirmed reports claim he had stopped to help another motorist in trouble.
