CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town's emergency services teams are busy attending to widespread flooding and damage to property from a level eight storm that made landfall on Wednesday night.
In Wynberg, four homes were damaged after a strong gust of gale-force wind swept through the area, leaving one house without a roof.
When EWN visited the area earlier on Thursday, broken walls and sheets of twisted corrugated iron lay scattered in the road and pavements in Sussex Street.

Homeowner Kamaal Harris, who now has a house without a roof, described what his family experienced during Wednesday night's storm.
"Last night, we were impacted by what I feel was a bit of a tornado, because if you look at the pole over there in the park, how it came across, it definitely impacted us... [I] sat down at about past eleven and there just a huge thud outside."
Harris said that as he was sitting in his home, he witnessed the roof come off.
"The roof basically ripped off and flew away and then parts of the window burst in the room I was sitting in as well."
Harris said that no one was harmed and all the families living in all the homes affected were safe.
