Airports Company South Africa (ACSA)’s Mark Maclean said they've planned a normal flight schedule, and no disruptions are expected. He said the situation will, however, be closely monitored.

"At the airport, we have adverse weather procedures that we follow, so equipment is tied down, we've got safety protocols on the ramp, etc.

“We also have an instrument landing system that guides aeroplanes in to land safely at the airport. We've got the best lighting and other systems in place."

Maclean said they are worried about staff and crew members getting to work in the morning. He also urged passengers to be safe on the road.

"I encourage that passengers leave home earlier and also keep monitoring your flight schedules. ACSA has an app where you can also track the status of your flight, so just keep looking out for that. We will also keep the public informed through the media if there is any risk or issues."
