CAPE TOWN - At least 15,000 people have been severely impacted by this week's storms across the Western Cape.
That's been confirmed by provincial disaster management on Wednesday, following heavy rains and strong winds since Sunday.
The small town of Wupperthal has been completely cut off due to floods.
While no injuries or deaths have been reported directly from the inclement weather, the storms have devastated many people.
In Cape Town, more than 14,000 informal structures have been damaged by winds and floods since Sunday.
Western Cape Disaster Management's Colin Deiner said they'd also had to evacuate people in other parts of the province.
"Evacuations have been more around the region of about 4,000 to 4,500 people. It's very difficult to keep track of evacuations because people don't normally evacuate to the shelters that are placed there for them."
The recent cold fronts following strong winds on Thursday, left about 4,000 people destitute in Khayelitsha.
Disaster Management said that all rescue teams were on standby, as another severe cold front makes landfall on Thursday.
