CAPE TOWN - At least 14,000 homes are uninhabitable amid a week of storms in Cape Town, but the worst is yet to come.

That's the warning from the City of Cape Town that says it's preparing for another cold front on Thursday.

Since Sunday, heavy rains and wind have led to flooding on roads and informal settlements in several parts of the Western Cape.

A level 8 warning for disruptive rainfall and strong winds has been issued for parts of the Western Cape from Thursday.

The City of Cape Town warns the cold front will likely result in more widespread flooding and impact response times.

The metro's urging Capetonians to stay off the roads and remain indoors where possible.

The public has also been urged to refrain from sharing unverified pictures and videos of the floods on social media.
