Africa's richest horseracing event, the HollywoodBets Durban July, happened on Saturday, 6 July.
While all bets were on the races, it was a day fit for fashion.
This year's theme was 'Ride the Wave', which saw many hues of blue, sparkles and wave-like textures attached to small, medium, big, asymmetrical, poufy and rouge looks.
One particular look the internet can't stop buzzing about is EFF leader Julius Malema in a tuxedo.
The politician attended the event and stylishly stepped out with his wife Matlala, dressed in a sequined blue number.
Malema shared his race day look on X, with Malema's designer Christian Louboutin-Corteo on Spikes Oxfords with the iconic red bottom shoes getting the attention as they retail for about R28 000 ($1545).

Some rushed to Malema's comments section of this image to raise some questions and debates around Malema's choice of shoes...
It's ironic that Julius Malema would spend almost R300,000 on a lavish outfit for a colonial-inspired event like the Durban July, especially when he has often criticized colonialism and pushed for the empowerment of South African and black-owned brands pic.twitter.com/kENznyYCYn

Apparently you have to be poor to fight for the poor. The most ridiculous thing. https://t.co/RBsEXxMlww

Just because Julius Malema is fighting for poor black people
This are the shoes he must wear at Durban July to show his commitment😭 pic.twitter.com/RWWmocIdAa
This is such a useless piece of imagery to tarnish Julius Malema's reputation. So he must go to Durban July wearing SHEIN or TEMU or MARKHAMs like you going to church or a function? pic.twitter.com/TouUbOGMaV

So South Africans expected @Julius_S_Malema to wear Mr Price shoes at Durban July. The very same South Africans would be making a mockery of him if he was wearing cheap shoes 👞 #Durbanjuly2024 #Durbanjuly2024 pic.twitter.com/P6dgHDUHDn
