JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng pupils on Tuesday are returning to school for the third term bracing the cold weather.
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane is expected to visit Noordwyk Secondary School in Midrand.
Chiloane will also announce the commencement dates and process for the grades 1 and 8 online admissions for 2025.
The process, which has been marred by delays and errors, saw 21,000 Gauteng pupils unplaced at the beginning of 2024.
Despite the cold weather, pupils at Noordwyk High are beaming with smiles, happy to see their friends after the long school holidays.
The children will sit for their first lessons this week, officially starting the new school term.
Chiloane will also ease a lot of anxieties when he announces the dates for school placements for 2025.
The announcement seems a tad delayed this time around. In 2023, Chiloane made the announcement in the middle of June.
He is likely to explain why there has been delay during a press briefing at Noordwyk Secondary School.
