John Cena has announced he is officially retiring from professional wrestling next year.
He broke the news at the WWE’s Money in the Bank event in Toronto, Canada on Saturday (6 July).
He made a surprise appearance to share his plans with fans.
“Tonight, I announce my retirement from the WWE,” he said in the ring.
“This farewell does not end tonight… It is filled with opportunity.”
The 47-year-old made his WWE debut in 2002.
“Everybody, I want to say thank you… thank you so much for letting me play in the house that you built for so many years. Thank you so much always for your voice because it’s really loud, and your honesty, because it’s beautifully brutal.”
His 2025 plans include participating in his final Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania.
