Singer and actress Keabetswe ‘KB’ Motsilanyane moved the hearts of many South Africans with her soul-stirring rendition of the national anthem at Loftus on Saturday.

Her performance marked a poignant moment as the Springboks returned to home soil, paving the way for their historic 27–20 victory against Ireland in the first Test on 6 July.

Joined by young Lisa Nkandla in signing the anthem, KB delivered flawless vocals that resonated deeply with the crowd.

As the anthem transitioned into Afrikaans, she gracefully handed the microphone to the audience, embodying the spirit of unity captured in the anthem’s words, ‘united we shall stand’.

Motsilanyane reflects on singing the national anthem as a profound responsibility, not just as an artist, but as a citizen of South Africa.

She emphasises that this moment carried significant weight, not only for our nation but in setting the tone for our team. 

Therefore, she says it was of utmost importance that she treated it with the dignity and respect it deserves.
