JOHANNESBURG - Minister of Basic Education Siviwe Gwarube has condemned the burglaries and vandalism at four schools in Limpopo.

Last week, police in the province responded to four crime scenes after criminals stole valuable items and set one school alight.

Gwarube said as final exams drew near, such incidents will jeopardise the progress of pupils.

"We cannot do this alone as the department. We can only do this with the assistance of stakeholders, SGBs [school governing bodies], and parents in ensuring that learners are in classrooms with teachers, and they are receiving the quality education that they need."
