Hippos can fly? UK researchers think so
Researchers say that hippos can trot so fast that they can glide through the air for a period of time.

It turns out hippos can in fact fly… kind of.
UK researchers say that hippos can trot so fast that they can glide through the air for a period of time.
Research from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) suggests that all four of their feet can clear the ground for up to 0.3 seconds at a time.
“They say this means they are effectively gliding through the air, and effectively flying.”

The discovery was made after two hippos were filmed moving in their paddock.
Hippos are among the largest land animals, weighing up to two tons.
