JOHANNESBURG - Springbok wing Canan Moodie will undergo a scan on Friday to determine whether his hand injury has recovered ahead of schedule.

Moodie broke a finger in the Bulls' last United Rugby Championship (URC) regular season game against the Sharks at the beginning of June and underwent surgery.

That injury saw him miss the URC quarter-final against Benetton, the semi-final against Leinster and the final against Glasgow Warriors as well as ruling him out of the July Test matches against Ireland and Portugal.

The World Cup winner says it's been especially tough dealing with what appears to be a minor injury that has kept him on the sidelines during an important period for both his franchise and the Boks.

"The goal is to win trophies and as a player, you want to play in those big games. So, it’s very frustrating when a little finger or something you might think irrelevant or isn't important keeps you out of being able to play in those big games," Moodie said.

If all goes well with the medical checkup, Moodie will have recovered 2 weeks ahead of schedule, but it remains to be seen whether he will be parachuted into the 39-man national squad currently in Pretoria.
