JOHANNESBURG - Just a day after announcing his minority government, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said the door remained open for the Democratic Alliance (DA) to join and be included in his executive.
The DA walked away from the government of provincial unity on Wednesday after failing to reach an agreement on the composition of Lesufi's Cabinet.
This has left the ANC vulnerable, as the governing alliance in the Gauteng legislature has less representation than political parties in the opposition.
Lesufi believes the ANC and DA can still resolve their disputes.
"We will continue to persuade each other; I don’t think we should rush it. There might be emotions running high but we have a responsibility to run a government that is as inclusive as possible. That’s what voters want, that’s what voters told us and we need to do that."
