WATCH: Police on scene of a cash-in-transit heist in Esselen Park
According to reports on the ground, explosives were used to blow up the van, with shooting also reported.

JOHANNESBURG - The remnants of a cash-in-transit heist remain on a main road in Tembisa where police are combing the scene.
It’s understood the robbers pounced on the cash van on Wednesday morning.
Traffic in the area is being diverted as police are on the scene.
Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) spokesperson Marie Mashisi said, “We urge motorists to use the alternative route, which is Link Road towards Esselen Park, just before the Tembisa Licensing Department. EMPD officers are on scene assisting to divert the traffic.”
Residents of the Liliba section, in Esselen Park, have come out to witness the combing of the cash heist scene.
In the middle of link road is a blown-up cash van and another vehicle believed to have been used to commit the heist.
Meters from the vehicles, is a safe that was extracted from the van.
It’s understood that the explosives used in the crime remain on the scene.
Forensic investigators, police and armed private security personnel are processing the scene.
It’s unclear how many suspects were involved in the crime or whether they have been injured or arrested.
