MK Party drops court bid to nullify election results
The party’s attorneys wrote to the Electoral Court on Wednesday notifying it that it would no longer be challenging the outcomes of the 2024 polls.

JOHANNESBURG - After weeks of claiming the elections were rigged, the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has dropped its court case to nullify the recent elections.
The party’s attorneys wrote to the Electoral Court on Wednesday notifying it that it would no longer be challenging the outcomes of the 2024 polls.

It is yet another U-turn for the country’s third supported political party.
After saying it would boycott Parliament and the provincial legislatures, the party’s elected representatives ended up participating in both.
For weeks now, the organisation, led by former President Jacob Zuma, had been promising to present to the country and the courts evidence that would necessitate the 2024 general elections to be redone.
However, the only thing it presented in this regard was an untitled cyber expert report that the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) said misrepresented its data.
The party has not responded to queries from Eyewitness News over why it has dropped the case.
