JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng said it had failed to reach a deal with the African National Congress (ANC) in the province.
The DA said that negotiations between it and the ANC over Cabinet positions had officially ended.
Discussions between the two parties over the formulation of the provincial Cabinet had been taking place for over two weeks, with no solution in sight.
Briefing the media on Tuesday evening, DA federal chairperson Helen Zille described the ANC's offer as unsatisfactory.
"We've hit a bit of an impasse, if I can call it that, in Gauteng and it is all rooted in the good faith implementation of the statement of intent in the Gauteng context."
