CAPE TOWN - The Al Jama-ah party has congratulated its leader, Ganief Hendricks, on his appointment as the deputy minister of Social Development.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced his Cabinet on Sunday night, a mixed bag reflective of the new Government of National Unity (GNU).

This sees parties such as the Democratic Alliance (DA), Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus), Patriotic Alliance (PA), and the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) taking up key posts in the national executive.

Al Jama-ah's Shameemah Salie said this significant achievement marked a pivotal moment not only for Hendricks, but also for the party and the people of South Africa.

"Hendricks has been a stalwart advocate for social welfare and community empowerment throughout his tenure, demonstrating unwavering dedication to the principles of compassion, equity, and progress. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping Al Jama-ah's vision of a more inclusive and prosperous South Africa."

Salie said the party would fully support its leader in his new role.

"As deputy minister of social development, Hendricks will undoubtedly continue to champion policies that enhance social welfare, uplift vulnerable communities, and promote sustainable development across the nation. His extensive experience and unwavering commitment make him uniquely qualified to tackle the challenges ahead and drive meaningful change."
