Tshwane's Brink says city has plan to turn its under-spending around
A report tabled before the city council on Thursday showed the metro is struggling to spend its National Treasury grant allocations on transport, housing, and informal settlements upgrades.

TSHWANE - The City of Tshwane said it won't spend money for the sake of it after a report revealed it underspent its grant allocations by R1.5 billion.
Grants are allocated to a municipality from National Treasury for a number of uses.

The report tabled before the city council on Thursday showed the metro was struggling to spend the funds on transport, housing, and informal settlement upgrades.
Mayor Cilliers Brink said the city had a plan to turn under-spending around.
"So, there is an easy way to get your spending up, and that is just to pay every invoice that everyone puts on your table. That practice has, as a matter of intention, policy, and sound prudent financial management, been eliminated."
