CAPE TOWN - An alleged hitman charged with the murder of a city official is set to appear in court on Thursday alongside alleged underworld crime boss, Ralph Stanfield.
Warren-Lee Dennis is charged with the murder of Wendy Kloppers, who worked in the city's environmental affairs department.
Kloppers was gunned down while conducting a site inspection at the Delft Symphony Way housing project in February last year.
Dennis will join Stanfield, his wife, Nicole Johnson, and seven other co-accused in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court.
Stanfield and his co-accused face various charges, including murder and extortion linked to allegedly running a criminal enterprise.
The city has welcomed Dennis' arrest, saying it will not allow organised crime and the construction mafia to infiltrate its housing projects.
Police said Dennis could face more charges when he appears in court on Thursday.
