JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has conveyed his condolences to the families of the two soldiers who died in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

It’s understood the pair were killed in a mortar attack on their base in Sake.

Twenty other soldiers were injured in the attack.

The president has assured the bereaved families and injured soldiers that the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) will provide all logistical and psychosocial support to all those affected.

"President Ramaphosa offers his deep condolences to the families of the fallen troops as well as their commanders and colleagues. The president’s thoughts are also with the SANDF members who are recovering from their injuries," said spokesperson Vincent Magwenya.
