JOHANNESBURG - The Automobile Association (AA) said consumers could see cheaper prices at the tills as a result of cooler input costs.
This is in addition to its predictions of a drop in fuel prices, with motorists expected to pocket a little extra change in July.
The reassurance comes a week before the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy adjusts prices for July next week.
The association’s spokesperson, Eleanor Mavimbela, said unaudited data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) suggests a second consecutive drop in prices to give cash-strapped consumers more reprieve.
“Unleaded 93 and unleaded 95 are expected to drop by around R1/litre, while diesel and illuminating paraffin prices are likely to drop by around 30 cents/litre and 25 cents/litre respectively.”
