MK yet to take position on reopening impeachment process against Ramaphosa - Hlophe

CAPE TOWN - The MK Party said it has not yet taken a decision on whether it would back a call to reopen an impeachment process against President Cyril Ramaphosa.
In 2022, the African National Congress (ANC) used its majority in Parliament to dismiss an independent legal review of misconduct complaints against Ramaphosa in connection with the theft of US dollars from his Limpopo farm, Phala Phala.
The report had suggested that Ramaphosa had a case to answer for.
But during the first sitting of Parliament almost two weeks ago, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said it had written to the National Assembly’s new presiding officers to revive the matter.
The MK Party’s parliamentary leader, John Hlophe, who himself was impeached as a High Court judge by Parliament in February, said the party had not yet taken a position on the matter.
"It’s an issue that remains on the agenda as far as other parties are concerned, and it’s a serious issue. And quite frankly, the president got away with it. He has been getting away with it."
