CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town has urged Capetonians to stand together against organised crime in the housing construction sector.
This follows the recent arrest and court appearance of Warren-Lee Dennis, who has been charged with the murder of city housing official Wendy Kloppers.
Kloppers was gunned down at the Delft Symphony Way housing project site in February last year, in an apparent case of mistaken identity.
She was killed after allegedly being mistaken for a woman who won a construction contract.

Following Dennis' court appearance on Tuesday, City Mayco member for Human Settlements Carl Pophaim sent a warning to criminals targeting the sector.
"The city has shown and will continue to show that we will act against anyone and everyone who wants to destabilise our construction sector, and allow organised crime and construction mafia to infiltrate the work that we do."
Dennis is set to appear in court again on Thursday, where he may face further charges.
Western Cape provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile said Dennis' arrest should send a strong message to criminals that they will be brought to book.
